Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • From vines over 70 years old. Medium ruby with slight garnet hue. Nose of red fruits and earth. Medium weight, sous bois, minerals and spice with a good finish. Given the vintage and the appellation rather surprisingly there was no hardness or rusticity, instead being tight with good structure and flair. Popped and poured was disappointing (around 86/87 pts) but after an hour in a decanter it opened up considerably and turned into a harmonious wine with balance and flair, low in tannin and refreshing acidity. Pure, elegant even. Drinking very well now, but only just in its mature drinking window. Very good indeed. Estimate maturity: 2009-2015+
