Had on Christmas Day so going from memory. Loved it. A lot more sophisticated than I expected. Young yes but the tannins were not aggressive and still very approachable if decanted well. Leave next bottle for a couple of years if able. Yum !
This opaque ruby wine is intense and "packed" on the nose. Smoke, dark bramble fruit, sous bois, black olive and mineral aromas are followed by a rich, heavily-extracted palate. With fresh acidity, well-integrated alcohol (14%) and flavors mirroring the nose, there is no question that this is a special wine. However, at this point the tannins are very firm and show substantial grip throughout the middle palate and lengthy finish. Patience is in order here...there is no doubt that it will be rewarded. Drink 2018-2030.
Dense, dark, deeply pitched and quite glossy and polished for a Clape wine. There are some subtle floral and wild herb things that counter the fleshy fruit and it has a black olive tapenade saltiness to the finish. It is very smart and needs plenty of cellar time.
