I liked this bottle better than the previous one. Maybe this is because I've tasted some older Ridge Zins that are past their prime, and this one still was quite attractive with nice spice tempered by 20% Carignane that is apparent in the finish. Enjoy now and don't hold this wine any longer.
(7/10/2023) Quite dark. At this point showing its age both in bouquet and taste. Typical Ridge Zin: 14+% alcohol and quite soft plus vanilla from American oak — a style I am liking less and less. Drink up!

Still has beautiful color. First impression on nose is pepper, then brambly fruit and spice notes. On the palate, blackberry and black raspberry with bright acid. Seems like it will go well with our pizza and salad tonight.

Pretty fresh and vibrant still. The 20% Carignan seems to dominate with it's forward plum fruit. It smells like last years Carignan still. It brings a lot onto the palate as well. This has enough acidity but drinks a touch round in feel. It seems like it's going to go a while given this performance. Not a lot of complexity though. Maybe the Zin just didn't have enough to keep up with the Carignan or maybe it's in a closed phase. Solid wine in any case and barely showing it's decade of age.

This was a brilliant bottle. Plumb, bramble, and tons of earthy complexity. Great from start to finish.
