Initially drinks like a young wine with mostly fruit related notes, a full body and wonderfully rounded, almost to the point where I believe there is a bit of RS in this one. With airing it becomes more savoury and developed, with syrah notes of olives, pine roast, cloves and pepper. Really a full bodied, unctuous, New World Syrah of very high quality

I really like syrahs that look, smell, and taste like syrahs and not generic red table wines. This one delivered in spades. Medium dark color. Big time baconfat and garrigue on the nose. On the palate, it was uncommonly savory, with baconfat and grilled meat, along with black and blue berries and a hint of tapenade. Not particularly rich, with a medium body at most. Really nice finish. Probably slightly past its peak, but just delightful.

Still purple and opaque, ruby to the edges. Fine sediment beginning to precipitate. Nose is savory with meat, fat dark fruits. Body is medium full, with partially resolved tannins and well balanced acidity wrapping dark and red fruit. Good finish. Enjoyable but not confident it will progress to the next level as the fruit fades and the savory secondary notes evolve.

Seem to be drinking a lot of syrahs lately, and this was a good one. Nicely fruited, but enough meat to keep it chewy. Lots more time.
