  • Color was a bit golden, but this one was not showing much oxidation - about right for a 14-year-old white Burg. A nice dry mineral streak and good acid keeps this one bright. On the Meursault side, it does have a buttery well-done (nearly burnt) popcorn aspect that is very pleasing. Lots of apple character to the fruit. Nice wine when it shows like this!

  • Very dark golden color has me instantly worried about premox. But it turns out that the nose is as fresh as can be, and the palate shows very little age on it - despite the color this is the best bottle so far (#4) from this original 6-pack. Great minerality. Nice yellow orchard fruit. Good acidity. Just a hint of toffee...not nearly enough to fall into the premox zone. This is as good as one can expect for this 1er cru at age 13.

  • The experiment continues with this 6-pack. This bottle was the most advanced in color so far...almost golden. On the nose there were some light sherry notes, but also a freshness...that hardly makes sense, but true. On the palate, the wine definitely showed fresher than the nose, but there was some premature advancement...a hint of butterscotch on the finish. This was certainly not undrinkable - we plowed through it with roasted chicken and some veg. The wine was an excellent companion to the food. But showing a measure of prem-ox to be sure.

  • Not much to add to Blair’s note above and to my previous note (6/9/2012) on this wine. Very good despite its advanced profile and went very well with our chicken, potatoes and carrots.

  • Hmmmm...bottle variation from this 6-pack. This one appears to have been caused by a very slightly faulty cork (the wine crept through to the top in one small spot). As a result, this one showed older than the previous bottle - but it was far from shot. Slightly advanced color, but no sherried notes, and on the palate this was fresh and drank very nicely.
