The 50 Big Bash (Harry's NYC): Love love love old Cali wines from the 70's although I think I figured it out too late for them to be very affordable. This was robust, well structured, lots of blackberry, drinking incredibly well. Very balanced. Delicious.

Solid cork, though recessed by 1/4” and moldy on top. Bottom neck fill. Amber, plum autumnal edge - deep core. Classic cassis top notes intermingled with shrooms and underbrush. Still vibrant and structured mountain cab despite a hot vintage which created many pruney wines. Fruity first impression is followed by muted spices and berry melange of flavors which linger on the extended finish. No longer impressive fruit nor especially complex, but shows how solid structure and balanced fruit holds up nicely after more than 40 years. Dare I wait until 2026 for my last bottle?

can't believe this wine held up and drank as it did. this was fabulous. The cork was bad, shoulder was low, and from the first sip it was off the chart. Incredible classic ca cab from the 70's. Almost like a smoky port in all the best sense. Ate with grilled pork chops which brought out the smoke, licorice, chocolate of the wine. Bravo York Creek from "1976".

A quite mature bottle. Still a solid showing for 40 years of age...

Ridge Wines (Hi-Time Wine Cellars, Costa Mesa, Ca.): Nice cab nose and taste, good finish with lots of acid, past its peak, but still enjoyable.
