  • Thoroughly enjoyed this wine; still drinking well. A beautiful med-dark gold color now. The age plus unique construction made for a rich and decadent sauv blanc with multiple layers of flavors. Wish I had another bottle or two!

First pour from the bottle prior to decanting, nose was delicate, fresh/bright tropical fruit and minerals. Palate all tropical fruit, no balance, and thin.

Decanted for 10-15 minutes and tried again. Wine woke up and continued to evolve over the next 2 hours. Nose with citrus, tropical fruit, caramelized pineapple cake. Med+ body; high acidity; 15.1% alcohol. Palate was remarkable, round and rich, depth and layers all over. Pear and kiwi with some grassy notes for balance, to tart apple skin, into a candied pineapple and oaky honeysuckle long finish. Wish we drank it slower so we could have continued to taste throughout the night.

  • As it warmed heat took over the palate. Tasted like a shot. One sip and dump. 15.1% ABV, has not aged well.

  • This is a classic Abe Schoener style wine. It is a Sauvignon Blanc that has some of the characteristics of the grape, but also reflects the vineyard and the winemaker style. Very high acidity in his whites is Abe's hallmark, which I believe is a natural result of his harvesting decisions and vineyard choices. This wine has more citrus fruit components (lemon and grapefruit) than tropical guava, but there is a bit of tropical fruit underneath. There is also moderate to high minerality, but not anything specific. The ABV is high and is noticeable, but if it had no alcohol, it would just be grape juice and we wouldn't write about it.

  • Deep golden yellow, pure concord grape, grapefruit, tarragon, clove with a substantially amount of bitterness. Certainly interesting and enjoyable with a very high ABV.

  • Pale-to-medium golden color. This wine is well concentrated, yet the component flavors remain steadily balanced. The first impression is a buttery wave of oak, with a counterpoint of salient minerality in the style of austere Chenin Blanc. On the nose and (especially) on the palate, this is rounded out by zippy citrus fruit and a burst of acid on the finish. Should continue to mature for another few years. Consumed close to room temperature, this might have benefitted from a bit of a chill; nonetheless, it was very pleasant indeed.
