Deep and powerful aroma on the nose. Initial notes of petals, cherry, berry, and then it evolved into tea leaves (specifically pu-er tea notes) and smoked black tea. On the palate, it was with depth, silky, and had a medium body. It opened up really nicely 1 - 1.5 hours in and became very expressive. This was the most enjoyable DRC I’ve had in the last few years, even surpassing some of the younger vintages such as 2004 La Tache. The wine took a deep turn after 3.5 - 4 hours. Delivered what a great Burg should.

Food: Petrus @ Shangri-la Hong Kong Duration: 2.5 hours Condition: Perfect Aroma: rose petals, dried leaves, cheery, hawthorn berry Notes: Fabulous nose, gets better as time goes by. Although not the best vintage at Burgundy but this is a lot better than what I expected from wines with the same vintage. A silky palate and a seductive nose is everything you need in a good Burgundy. I've had a few Richebourgs from DRC and surprisingly this seems to be the one that I enjoyed the most. Definitely in a good time frame to enjoy this wine. The wine was well conditioned and I think it should last for at least another 10 years. Drink now till 2025. (95 pts)

Steve's 60th (Roswell, GA): Served non-blind; small dull crimson core with larger burnt orange rim, see through with lots of sediment; burnt orange, caramel, Asian 5 spice, cranberry, leather, elegant; became richer with air, orange, cherry, long finish, still some tannin, kind of a Red Hots note on finish as well; the fruit started fading after a couple hours so drink earlier; a great experience and hard to be objective with a score as I just wanted to soak it in and enjoy the ride.

(Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Richebourg) Nose of truffles, exotic spices and loads of red/black fruits. Palate was pure velvet with pure fruit and a long finish. Who can complain? Excellent.
