Eight Decades of Decadence: So... DRC and Richebourg at this price point should win WOTN right? Not so fast. To me, this ranked 4th behind '59 Haut Brion, '01 Latour, and '86 LLC. Important note... decant this wine for at least two hours. It because a beautiful lady with an incredible nose and finish by the end of the night. It was tough as nails when first opened, but it unfolded like a beautiful rose as the night went on. Tough to be the only Pinot in this line up, however. Even if it is a DRC. A beautiful wine that I would always be blessed to drink.

It's hard to be disappointed by a DRC, and it's equally hard to be surprised big-time on the upside. This bottle was exactly that. It simply grew and grew in the decanter/bottle. Berry, spice, and a huge tea component, reminding me of 88 La Tache. Simply superb. Suggested musical accompaniment: Geoffrey Kezzer - Wildcrafted: Live at the Dakota.

Whilst not affected by fully blown tca, the wine suffered from a bit of a mouldy cork. It was a bit dusty, with some mid-weight red and black fruits. Sadly nowhere near its best.

Dinner with Three decades of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): In 95/03/14 vertical. Another Richebourg that keeps getting better and better. Maturing red cherry and berry aromas with Asian five spice come across as so classically Vosne. Similar flavors, but with much more depth and finesse, this kept unfolding in increasingly nuanced ways. Nearly perfectly balanced.

Very good nose with Asian spice..Secondary, approaching tertiary notes. great balance...drinking very well. I've never been a great fan of '95's , however this is quite nice.
