Clearly on its way out, but not done yet. Tannins were dusty, and there was a bit of menthol on the nose (almost like something older from Coonawarra). Not a ton of fruit at first, but it really filled out after some time in the glass. I wish I hadn't drank it so quickly!

Still drinking nicely, smooth and delicious. A deep purple color with no sign of it bricking or turning south. Some plum and sugar on the nose, a great wine with my heirloom tomato salad tonight.

I was expecting this wine to be over the hill as per others tasting notes. Purchased this wine as a release wine and been sitting in my cellar since. I found the wine to be still full of life and quite pleasant to drink. Soft on the palate, smooth tannins and still quite alive with no signs of being over the hill what so ever. A classic Hietz.
