  • The wine was tasted blind, right after we had just enjoyed Petrus 1978 and Lafleur 1979. The color of this wine was even more intense, and the nose suggested a younger age to me – I had placed it at 1982. Later, upon the revelation of the bottle, I couldn't believe it. If I hadn't known where the wine came from, I might have suspected something had happened to the bottle. But, ladies and gentlemen, what a bottle! As previously noted, the color gave no indication that this wine is now over 75 years old. In the nose, there was still a presence of alcohol, along with notes of pepper and tobacco. Not once did it present an unpleasant nose when pouring, which can sometimes happen with these very old wines. There were also earthy and damp leaf aromas. The palate still retained a certain level of acidity, suggesting it may continue to age for a few more years before reaching the end of its life. Oh my, what a wine!
