  • Deep, golden yellow in colour, with a few bubbles still. This was more like an old bottle of white burgundy. Oloroso on the nose, oxidative but not oxidised. Classy, complex and powerful. The palate was full of coffee, mushrooms, vanilla ice cream, a touch of fino sherry. I've written, "So long, creamy, life affirming, majestic, rich". I must have been pissed or really liked it. Perhaps both....again perhaps not quite the absolutely best bottle (see my note on the 1959) you could have but I think you'd have to have a bottle from the cellars of Pol themselves to get a better bottle (the 1959 was!). Great stuff.
