1989 red carbonnieux. Corck half moistered, small problem opening bottle, but happy with the content after 30 years. Enjoyed it in march 2020, in full corona crisis.

During a tasting "bring a bottle that is at least 25 years old". Good mature Medoc aromas. Ripe and complex nose of dark fruit, bakery. Lacks a bit of acidity and tension on the palate. Past peak.

A delightful luncheon Claret. Has some tobacco leaf, sweet berry, stony minerality and earth to the aroma. It is fresh with sweet briary fruits and subtle savoury notes. It is mid-weight yet impeccably balanced and proportioned. There's good persistence.

A really beguiling nose, with some soft oak, cigars, leather and aged red fruit. The mouthfeel is very smooth, with notes of slightly fortified wine reflecting it's age. The tannins are soft and resolved, but the wine was not flabby. Drank with a roast beef Sunday dinner it stood up quite well.
