  • Crimson in color. 13.5% ABV. Spellbinding nose of black fruits, leather and cigar box. Medium body with ample acidity. Elegant, warm and supple. Blackberry, cassis, currants and tobacco on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish with silky but mostly resolved tannins. Delicious wine that paired brilliantly with a Chicken Parmesan. Best over the next 1-2 years.

  • Eureka! 3 time is the charm!
This time brought to a top notch restaurant for my sommelier friend to try and man did this bottle perform when called up!!
This time cork broke upon opening but did not crumble, allowing us to eventually pull it out rather intact. Cork showed same permeation up to halfway mark. Incredible nose of leather, vanilla and blueberry. Ready to drink.
The unlike last two times (see prior notes) this baby sang until the end. Palate was layers of silk up firm structure. Fruit shined. Much more sediment in glass than before - don’t know if that is any coincidence.
1/3 ain’t bad. Will revisit in 6 months.

  • Alas, same as previous note. This is bottle is sadly well past peak.

  • First of an 8 bottle estate purchase. Long story short, this bottle has a nose expressing age in a positive way but palate less favorable.

This bottle was slo oxidized for 40 min to pair with tenderloin, sweet potato and salad. Cork shows wine permeated through half of the cork but no signs of seepage. Light to medium intensity, ruby body with very slight brickish hue. Clearly a Bordeaux blend but would love to know exact make-up of this vintage (producer web site only lists current vintage).

Well balanced, aged nose of tobacco, vanilla and leather. Earthiness and alcohol (despite 13.5%) seem to suggest this wine is punching above its weight (or age). Medium to full body.

That said, palate seems very one dimensional and lacks the balance of the nose. Tannins are very well integrated yet the fruit and acidity is diminished, leaving for an alcoholic drink (despite 13.5%!) with dissipating structure. Palate grew more astringent toward the end. I put this down to age.

I look forward to comparing this experience to another bottle in the near future. Will definitely limit to slo ox but will drink more quickly (or with more people) as there was a decline over the 3 hours we’ve been drinking.

  • Super nice, some age, but still beautiful fruit aromas.
