The previous note captures this well. Very elegant but compact and structured at the same time. Not ready for prime time but a good glimpse into a glorious future.

Piedmont night: Dibbs (see note below) who brought it opened this in the morning for dinner. Wrongly guessed Bartolo again. Sweet strawberry fruit, scent of rose petals. Loved the silky texture but tannins were still a bit harsh now. Immaculate wine that has a lot more to give.

Keith's Italian Wine Dinner (Osteria Langhe - Chicago IL): Open 4 hours before serving. Dense and powerful red cherry with savory spice and faint floral notes. Backward for now, but so much powerful fruit clearly teasing us with its potential. I don't know if this needs 5 or 10 or 15 more years to fully express itself, but this needs more time.

Barolo 2004 with the Jeroboam Club (Little Shop and Pantry, Bristol): Pale red with orange-brick rim. Great purity of sweet strawberry fruit on the nose, effusive, cream and vanilla, a delicate spice, balsam. Cassis in the background, washed wool. Extremely complex. Light-medium weight in the mouth, intense, immediate with liquorice undertones. Evolved and well integrated tannins - now quite friendly. Excellent length. Vino da meditazione. Superb.

Lunch at Noizé: Mid to full garnet with a touch of ruby. Quite richly fruited. The hypothetical blend of the 01 and 07. Three peas in a pod, just at slightly different ages. Gorgeous wine. *****
