4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (Our house): Aromas of cassis, kirsch, pepper and black fruit. Full-bodied with approachable tannins. Currants, chocolate, cassis and plum with a long finish. Has a feminine edge with floral notes in the background. Guessed Phelps Insignia.
New World Blind Tasting Group $40+ (Bin 75): Opaque core with dull brick rim; blueberry, blackberry, slight jammy fruit, some green and black olive and their brine, vanilla, creamy; menthol, tannin, currant; fooled me for an aged Australian Shiraz at first then the Cab took hold with air, very dense and extracted.
Absolutely spectacular. These mondavi reserves never disappoint.
Rich & Full bodied. Mouth coating & buttery. Floral notes, dark chocolate, espresso, spices, chocolate covered cherries, and warm brownies. Smooth and delightful from beginning to end. All loved it. It is 15% alcohol and needs a few hours to breath. This has plenty of time left and will continue to improve.
