  • 14.5% alcohol. G 80%, Mrvdr 20%. Very short cork of reasonable quality; no wine penetration anyway. The colour is pretty dark with significant thinning at the edge of the rim.
The nose shows black olive and ripe fresh black fruit, with just a raisiny hint in the finish, but nothing overwhelming. Similarly balanced in the mouth with vg acidity. There is nothing bulky here, which is remarkable for a G based wine; this shows special skills in both viticulture and wine making. Correspondingly leaner than most people's idea of a Gigondas, but none the worse for it.
In vg condition now and for at least five years.

  • Is op zijn hoogtepunt, maar er zit veel bezinksel in. Lekker.

  • Hanging in there but past peak. Pleasantly surprised and a much better experience compared to my previous review. Fruit has faded but no obvious signs of age from this bottle. I would drink up as it is difficult to see how the wine will improve from here.

  • 14.5% alcohol. G 80%, Mrvdr 20%. Short cork of vg quality, both dense and supple and showing no wine penetration. Deep colour with no sign of ageing.
The nose is fresh with liquorice dominating garrigue and black olive. The mouth has plenty of energy and grip, with some unproblematic bitter notes in the aftertaste. Pretty distinctive in that it is more aromatic and less fleshy than most Gigondas, while pretty muscular at the same time; nothing overweight or flabby here. Very good length too.
There is a definite house signature at this address, and I like it; maybe the best wine to use in order to convert Grenache-adverse drinkers to the considerable virtues of the grape?
A very good wine and a repeat purchase.

  • Appears to be past its peak and on the way down. Fruit is fading and the wine was thin. I would drink up.
