Very open and floral. A little brick starting to show in the color. Nose is dark berry and tar. Some tobacco. Very open on the palate. The tobaccco continues. Some wet stone minerality on the medium finish. had with peppered rib eye with Amish blue melted on top. Perfect.
I decanted the wine for 1 1/2 hours, poured it back into the bottle and consumed it over two days. It was dark ruby in colour in colour and offered red currant, black currant, dark cherry, oak spice as well as hints of bell pepper and black currant leaves on the sweet and perfumed nose. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed red currant, blackcurrant, some dark cherry, some spice and a hint of bell pepper, paired with medium-plus acidity, medium-plus tannin and good to very good length of the chewy finish. Enjoyable, but not special, and clearly overpriced to me.
In the nose very noticeable wood and red current/spice perfumed, almost like these perfumes were added artificially. I guess you have to get used to this aromatic profile. Not uninteresting but not my cup of tea. Medium bodied and balanced. Not too long though.
