Unmistakeably GC from the first sip. Sappy without any sweetness, this shows a nice balance between mixed red and black fruit and tertiary development, with plenty of gamey beef-jus, a faint hint of mushroom and just a general Gevrey rusticity to it that is very nice. A hint of low-char oak, but nothing obtrusive. Excellent concentration for a medium bodied wine. I understand Gelin is considered to be one of the weakest producers of Beze, which surprises me - this is better than many a GC bottle I've had from second-tier GC's in the hands of well-regarded producers. I guess the terroir shows through.
stillabit close fisted in wanting to give you the pleasure that it can and will give. Very complex with its almost sappy port like nose, black and dark red fruits merge with spice and dried herbs yielding to the purest of balance finishes. Masculine and elegant this is perfect for a Clos de Beze. Should drink well for 8 to 10 more years.
