A very petrolly, minerally nose. Very zingy, lively palate, even after it's been open around three hours! Even after that time, and having come to room temperature, there's no particularly obvious residual sugar feeling separate. Great balance. A very fine Kabinett that's developed and improved nicely since I last tried it in 2008.
Riesling Dinner (La Mangeoire): Sharp and hardening honey on the nose, some chemical penicillium notes and vinegar, but in a pleasant way. Awesome on palate, tingling with ethanol, loads of honey, and nice white florals throughout. Some residual sugar hanging around but manageable. Really enjoyed.
Saddly my last of six bottles bought in 2008. Through the years it transformed from an almost tart wine to last night's ethereal beauty. Amazing purity of fruit with jasmine notes, dry to off-dry with a barely perceptible CO2 on the palate. The epitome of elegance. It showed very clearly why some wines really need time in the bottle to show their potential.

(Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett) This wine immediately displays an extra dimension in comparison to the estate Riesling. It has a beautiful presence on the palate, with again a fabulously precise acidity. It is pure, minerally, slatey even, with a great, light and lifted style. A brilliantly composed wine.
