  • Popped and let breath for 4 hours. The cork looked brand new, pretty incredible for an 11 year old bottle. This wine was initially tannic when first tasted, even after 4 hours. As we where consuming a Byron '02 pinot and an OS Cab Franc...our party focused on those, and let the Ridge breath futher...after 6 hours or so the wine started to open w/layers of chocolate, expresso and leather. There was a background herbal/vegetal component, perhaps reflective of the vintage, which lowers the evaluation. A smooth, refined and sophisticated wine, and nice work in a challenging vintage. Should drink well for another 5-7 years.
