This was still so youthful, just a glorious bottle with great fill level and still solid dark colour. It showed asian spices, dark berries and a gentle touch of oak on the nose. The palate was all about raspberry and vanilla, backed up by good structure, however nothing about this wine was excessive. I think it should last for some more years, but its in a great spot for drinking now!

Drunk at North 44, 30/9/09. Great colour, red/orange at rim. Big, wonderful nose, cherry, strawberry, vanilla, violets, then mushrooms, forest undergrowth, caramel, spice... Keep changing throughout the evening - we had two bottles, and the evolution of the nose was quite amazing over 2-3 hours. Initial grip on pouring (no chance to stand), compex structure, long finish. As the wine opened up over the evening the tannins fell back to a most pleasant level, and the real flavours started to show. Tart cherry, raspberry, could taste lavendar, then caramel edge and a slightly peppery spicey note. A great burgundy experience, my first Echezaux. I was surprised how fresh and young the wine was. Got the impression this could still benefit further from a few month years.
