  • Tobacco, minty, licorice, dry plum, leather, violet, raspberry seed. Bottle decanted and drink through 5hrs. Delicious and complex, great value in such high quality. Love it!

  • This Lagrange 2011 is a blend of 62% Cab, 32% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot (which was the highest percentage of the latter since 2007).

Initially tight, I am glad the bouquet gave way to show the dark cherries and black berry notes. After an hour, there was even some lovely graphite and fresh cedar too.

Tannins and acidity both M+, better now. Much more expressive compared to when we last had it in Aug 2022.

Shared with brother VC and N, joined by their daughter M too, at Travelling Duck in the newly opened Pavilion Damansara. These were perfect wines to pair with the delicious Irish roast duck!

  • EEE January 2024 St. Estephe vs St. Julien (@ My place): Beautiful bouquet with dark berries, oak and cedar as well as some toast and graphite. On the palate the same impressions, some toast and tobacco, good acidity and mild, still slightly sticky tannin. Good length. The wine is in a nice drinking stage, but there is no hurry at all.

  • Med Ruby with garnet ring
Med+ on the nose, blueberry, red roses, leafy, nutmeg, sandalwood, leather, developing.
Dry, high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, med+ body, Med+ intensity, red cherry, liquorice, tobacco, nutmeg, med+ finish.
This is a very good wine. This wine is better on the nose than on the palate.

  • Another pretty and welcoming 2011 from what seems to be a vintage full of gems and value especially when one focusses, at this stage at least, to the juicer St Julien wines.
This always arbitrage of quality vs Price wine that is the Ch Lagrange delivered an elegant, classic and proper show. Still on the fruit and would definitely improve with a bit of a secondary evolution. Medium bodied and every little bit of a classic well made claret. 92-93 for now and with decent life ahead we felt.
