6cl sample. With Larissa and Darryl. This whisky was much lighter in colour than the Highland Park Dark Origins. It had a very nice nose; fruity, with citrus, some vanilla, a hint of honey and very subtle smoke; all in harmony. On the palate the whisky showed citrus, vanilla, smoke, spices and a hint of liquorice, with warming, even slightly burning alcohol and very good length. This whisky drank well, particularly after adding a few drops of water. Of the four Highland Parks tasted tonight this whisky drank best. Body 6/10, Smoke 4/10, Sweetness 3/10.

Dark chocolate, smoke, roasted grains, toffee, and band-aid, with minor hints of apple. A velvety, merlot-like mouthfeel. Apple skin and chocolate in the finish.
Although this whisky is widely considered a classic, and it's certainly tasty, it's not amongst my favorites, I think the chocolate and smoke smother most of the other flavors.

I see what is meant when this is called a perfect scotch. All the HP flavors are there, but in hifi and in great balance, fine and smooth, long, complete. Its not perfect but it's close, hell it's damn close for only 18 years.

12/23/2019 - colorflavorlocking Does not like this wine:
Hot and discombobulated. Peat buried by sweetness. Chunky on palate. Smells like alcohol and brown sugar. Terrible value.

Enjoyed this; very salty with heather and slight honey, not peat driven, subtle leather, very smooth.
