  • Nose: red fruits, dried leaves, spices
Notes: Despite an attractive nose with the typical and attractive aromas of red fruits and dried leaves typically available from the region, this wine lacks the floral notes and I thought the palate was a little weak, hence the nose was much better than the palate. Drank over 2 hours. One could argue that a couple more years in the cellar could make this more smooth and develop the nose further but I am not so optimistic.

  • This had some lovely funk which settled with more air. This was a beautiful wine highlighting the special Les rouges du Bas vineyard with its super concentrated old vines with a intensity and length which I loved. Will certainly be trying to buy some.

  • An interesting showing that was unlike my first smoke show bottle from the six-pack in 2019. The nose seemed to have some gas hanging above it and clouding the beautiful dark and spicy red and black cherry, although that did eventually blow off. A dark and stormy showing with way more sous bois than I expected. Deep and rich black fruit with some spice. Palate doesn't synch up to the nose and delivers that clean, pure, and concentrated fruit. Would be 94 but for that weird gas on the nose at the start.

  • Great nose of bright red and black cherry fruit. A bit of polish but surprisingly the oak is really nicely integrated and this is totally approachable and fresh. Massive black cherry palate. Bit of menthol. Nice purity and freshness of fruit. Not overly Echezeaux in character, more of a cleaner but spicier style. Got a great price on some of these and would happily take more. 93-94.
