Hmmm... I'm not quite sure about this wine. Juicy yes, but at 15.7% alcohol there's a certain warm sensation on my tongue. In the glass dark crimson colors, the nose projects light fruit aromas, on the palate round and juicy, oh yeah heat. OK to drink in the next year maybe two, but eventually 15.7% alcohol will catch up to this wine. Not enough big fruit to substain all that alcohol. Drink now and quick.....

Dark inky, crimson red in the glass, drank over three days, no decant. Day one had aroma of cedar, oak, some dark fruit, but the wood was the most noticeable. Palate was some dark fruit, medium body, medium acidity and a somewhat short finish. Day two the wood notes had faded a bit, replaced some additional fruit aroma, but also with a subtle hint of pine on the nose. Palate was similar, a bit smoother with a bit more juicy dark fruit I'm thinking due to some of the alcohol blowing off. Alcohol seemed to be held in the background all three days, possibly by the rather strong oak/wood notes on both the nose and palate, day three I got the most alcohol on the nose and palate surprisingly, not quite as "woody" with a more prominent chalky tannin on the finish. Decent QPR but I wasn't crazy about the ever present woody characteristics of this one.

This Sonoma Zinfandel is dark and inky. The nose is black and white pepper, dark fruit, and cedar. The mouth feel is full bodied a sweet fruit, tart acidic middle with full tannic finish. This is just what you expected from this higher alcohol offering, a splendid traditional Zin.

Well-balanced, juicy, fruit forward, with cherry, spice and cedar flavor. Very approachable.
