Dark ruby, perfumed nose of saddle leather, tobacco leaf, cigar box, black plum and cassis, lean on the attack with mature acid forward fruit, mid palate of dark berries, plum, tar and mocha, finish is dark and complex with layers of tart and mineral driven cherry and mixed berry fruits
Note: 2005-15 life span is right on target, was probably better 5 years, in other words, drink now

Absolutely stunning. Superb nose, mineral (granite, chalk), meaty and floral (violet and rose pot-pourri). The fruit is pure, maybe on the darker side but with a good acidity and balance. Lovely mouthfeel and long finish. A great Cornas.

Deep ruby. A smoky, meaty nose with dark red fruit. Smooth and quite velvety on the attack with good depth and richness to the fruit across he front and mid-palate and then a wilder, slightly spicy proper Cornas quality to the finish wi brighter acidity and lighter red friction along with a touch of rust. Again, lovely. ***1/2

Drank about 2/3 of it over two nights with uncertainity. This wine never seemed totally right and yet not nearly off enough to give up on it. Bummer that it took up space in my cellar for about 8yrs only to be a question mark and not nearly the pleasure I anticipated. I think it was lightly corked and should have returned it.

(Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas Renaissance) Purple black color; oaky, vanilla nose; tasty, more gentle than most young Cornas at this stage, beets, eucalyptus and coffe; tangy medium finish
