  • Deep, elegant, still fresh nose. Complex with tantalizing notes of roasted hazelnuts, gun-powder, stony minerals and pure apple and pear fruits. Very balanced.
    Fullish, austere body with tremendous fruit and concentration. Elegance and perfect acidic grip. Citrus, fresh yellow apple, roasted hazelnuts, gently oaky. A splendid balancing act of full body, austerity, nuttiness and a long minerally finish. Exactly as a white burg should appear. This is competing with GC-level Batard from weaker producers.
    It is hazardous to wait more than 10 years with white Burgs, but what a reward when avoiding the Premox trap! Perfect right now.

  • Reading reviews of the 2002 (only 1 here before mine) I was concerned the wine might be past its peak. RP has it as mature, though not old. RP is right on target with this wine. Very intense, but well refined Puligny-Montrachet. Had great aromatic depth to its spiced mineral-scented nose. Medium-bodied, filled with quartz, lemon, and crisp pears. It showed great Burg character such that you knew this wine could only have come from Burgundy. Liked it a lot and I'm glad I have another few, though I won't wait much longer to drink them
