  • shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate surviving another week during the pandemic. i continue to drink up the cellar with priority given to bottles with expired drink by dates. this bottle got lost in the cellar for unknown reasons. had not tasted since 2016. the wine has held up very nicely. not as fresh as last time but still very enjoyable. fine sediment adheres to the side of the bottle. dark color. dried cherry and some prune due to advanced age. this may be the most aged montepulciano d'abruzzo that i have ever had. a remarkable experience.

  • brought a bottle to central jersey offline at ravello by toscano. shared with pat and the group. last tasted on 2/6/2015 with the following note: ".....this wine is a little heavier than most m d'a. generous aroma. full in the mouth. mostly red fruit. also some herbaciousness. medium body. even though this bottle was primo, i will try another one in a few months so as not to tempt fate." tonight, the wine continues to show well. seems to be in a steady state. will hold on to last bottle a little longer.

  • shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. where has the time gone? i remember pulling these off the shelf at point of purchase as if it were yesterday. it would have been interesting to try this wine once midway through its life cycle. glad that the wine has held up and is showing nicely now. we tasted one 12/2014 and i thought that it might be nearing end of life. tonite's bottle seems to have held up better. this wine is a little heavier than most m d'a. generous aroma. full in the mouth. mostly red fruit. also some herbaciousness. medium body. even though this bottle was primo, i will try another one in a few months so as not to tempt fate.
