This bottle showed riper with more oak than my prior; more reminiscent of a new world syrah and not necessarily in a good way; ripe black fruit, violet, oak on the nose; palate is ok, but lacks vibrancy; not as good as my prior bottle

Beautiful wine. Still hugely powerful at age 21. The nose is explosive with black currant, black raspberry, smoke, roasted meats, lots of pepper, violets, and hints of anise. The palate is surprisingly structured for a wine this age with still robust tannins and huge power. There is enough acidity to keep it tasting fresh and balanced. Really lovely and still about the only Aussie Shiraz I've had that I really like and would buy more of.

Simply outstanding-- plums, blackberry, graphite, white chocolate and zippy acidity-- impeccable balance! The nose is beguiling... the palate is seamless and even with a 2 hour decant (and consumed over the following 8 hours) the wine tasted fresh throughout. It easily has 5+ years ahead, but why deny yourself if you have any bottles???

Totoraku Cali Cabs & Syrahs Dinner (Totoraku): Would never have pegged this as a shiraz in a blind tasting. Surprising and great.
