I'm able to say with complete confidence that this is my first Sardinian carignan. The label encourages 1 hour breathing, but I cheated and started in right away. The initial impression was closed, but indicated cherry and kirsch aromas. With the requested decantation time, it filled out, but the fruit started to dissipate in favor of forest floor, herbal, and anise notes, wrapped in a still prominent tannic grip. There's something vaguely Bordeaux-like about this in it's tight-knit style, but it's not a wine I will return to any time soon.
