  Mr & Mrs Vinosapien visit FV (Falsterbo): Supertuscan sangiovese nose, or like an oaky brunello. Dark cherry/plum fruit with gravel and a hefty dose of oak with obvious toasty notes. The taste is big and rounded with dark fruits, lots of structure and dry tannins that may have to do with extraction - ten years ago Perrot-Minot used a lot of saignee to concentrate the wines - but most likely come from new wood that wasn't air-dried for a long enough time. The active winemaking sadly masks typicity here (remember that La Richemone is close to the great Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts!) Food - preferrably grilled meat - is paramount to drinkability. When the bistecca fiorentina arrives at the table, La Richemone luckily excels, and is our preferred choice among three quite oaky wines. Well, it wasn't a great vintage and Perrot-Minot have come a long way since those earlier days.

  Riper more modern with extracted fruits and angular structure. Black cherries lots f youth and can age.

  Impromptu Bachelor's Nite (Jade Palace at Forum): Placed against a 96 corton and a 93 Rioja, this really seemed an adolescent with no inkling of the world it is in. Still harsh, brambly and very much spicy with concentrated black fruit extract. Might need more time but at the moment very awkwardly too structured for a burg. A brash young man still finding his foothold in the world.

  The colour was darkish more akin to a Bordeaux. Very nice nose of ripe berries. On the palate there was considerable weight. Tannins were fine and nice acids to balance the lovely fruits.
