After a rough day unpacking wine and putting bottles in cellar slots -- talk about a 1% problem -- I decided to treat my self. Wow!!
Splash decanted and drank over next 3 hours. Moderate, fine sediment. Nearly opaque ruby-red with margins hinting of future orange. Initially, integrated red and dark berries; smooth and pleasant. As time went on -- and as food entered the picture -- the spice came out. At 3 hours, the front is tart, spicy plumb with licorice and raspberry overtones. Still medium-full body. Finish is very long and ever-changing.
Robert's 50th (A Tastey Restaurant): Loved this wine. Purple in color. The nose has cassis, blueberries, vanilla but also a nice mineral undertone. On the palate, this is lush, fruit forward and delicious. Likewise, there is a tight layering of complexity as it unwinds in the glass. Lovely now, but a decade left. Great wine.
