Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 95 points

  • 3 bottles sourced directly from the Lanessan’s private cellar where they have been resting since bottling all very healthy and almost identical top shoulder ullage, still on original corks fully wet and brittle. There are wine experiences and then there is this mesmerising 101 yr old that we were lucky to release it like a genie from the bottle and see it served and of course taste it .
The nose is superb and just for this nose 101 yrs later deserves its 95. Floral, roses, soft fruit notes, light leather. A singing nose that stayed for a good hour and kept evolving. The palate is of course soft but healthy and enjoyable and this makes for those great wine experiences of our life with wine.

  • Annual Pilgrimage to Chateau Lanessan; 5/23/2014-5/25/2014 (Chateau Lanessan, Bordeaux): Directly from the private cellar of the chateau, where it has laid all its life in perfect conditions. Re-corked in the 1960s.
This was such a joyful wine, still very healthy and alive with a good , ok very light but for the age, fruit core. The nose had so many hints of light spice and herbs. Very complex nose. The palate is of course light, yet very balanced still. This is among the best of the oldies we have tried, maybe as good as the 1911. Beautiful!
