Had two bottles of 2003 in two days. Both were delicious. First bottle was drank with Friday night pizza. I took a sniff and sip when I first opened, but waited 2 hours until drinking. Opened second bottle, but only drank half. Drank second half next day. No decanting done. The only hint that the bottles are 20 years old is a slight bit of sediment. They were well taken care of; kudos to Zachys. Beautiful dark ruby red color that is typical of Geyserville in its youth. Nose is earthy, leather, tobacco. Tannins are mellowed, wine a bit acidic, strong alcohol presence, feels like the bottles could be held a few more years and still hold their own. From other reviews, I was afraid this vintage would be a bust this late in its life, but still a lot of life and I am pleased. Can't wait to open another bottle!

A blend of 76% Zin and 18% Carignane and 6% Petite Sirah creates a soft, even silky, mouthfeel. A very complete wine. The tannins are silky smooth. A shadow of sediment hanging on the shoulder and neck. 14.6% alc. With (chicken) coq au vin and the friendship of the Smileys, Sheets and Karen Frank. . Highly Recommended.

W black sheep farm spareribs. Decent ribs. Very good wine. Cork was the usual Ridge disaster. Good young color still. Nose was alcoholic but palate was very fruity. Good zin of fruit and spice but not sure that this will get better. Drink up as o said 5 yrs ago but somehow it still lives.

40th Anniversary Magnum Party; 6/3/2017-6/4/2017 (R&D's): From magnum, leftover from the prior night. Floral and red fruit notes with a hint of oxidation underneath. The palate has held up a bit better, showing cherry, strawberry, raspberry and pepper.

(Ridge Geyserville) Slightly bricking medium dark red violet color; big baked berry, black plum, currants nose; oak, baked berry, allspice palate, needs to integrate, needs another 3-plus years; medium-plus finish 90+ pts. (76% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 6% Petite Sirah)
(RIDGE GEYSERVILLE RED) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very tight, milk chocolate cherry flavor, TASTE-this is good wine, fills your palate dramatically, quick blast of well integrated fruit, heavy wine (felt like chewing), coats entire palate, LOT of cherry, dried raisin, hints of green pepper, really liked the jam extract, very New World, very structured, great mid-palate, transition from overall fruits to the long finish was seamless (like a perfect symphony), really impressed, great structure & mouth feel, great w/ fruit, absolute lovely bottle; GV-91

Still hanging in there but the vibrance is giving way to the older notes of leather. 14.6% alcohol. Drink up!
