  Sonoma 2006 Chateau St. Jean Cabernet Sauvignon Cinq Cépages ($60 in 2019 estate sale). Mid-garnet, rim variation, garnet edges, viscous (14.4 alc.); older red fruit nose; herbaceous, tobacco, potpourri; mid-acids, mid-tannins; semi-long, semi-deep red fruit finish. w/short ribs. 16-16.5 UC Davis scale, 90-91 other scales.

  Smooth, attractive and mellow. Fruit has melded nicely, but finishes a little short with a gentle sherry undertone. This bottle began with an unfortunate streak of TCA, which blew off after a few hours. Drink now.

  Opened up to try prior to serving with a Christmas dinner of beef tenderloin and all the trimmings. Still going strong. It has definitely mellowed but still a lot of fruit. Looking forward to seeing how it pairs with the filet roast. Merry Christmas everyone, and I hope you can find some joy in the remainder of this train wreck of a year.
