Another absolutely spectacular bottle of this. Not much I can add to my previous notes - this is just classic Bordeaux with layers of rich fruit, cedar, cigar smoke, tobacco, graphite, and that forestal green PLL signature all coming together very seamlessly on a frame that conveys power with remarkable finesse. There's still a little tannin that lurks on the back end which suggests this will hold a while longer, but this is stunning and I can't imagine it being too much better.
A small sendoff for Salil as he moves to flyover country and a happy birthday to Jay! (Chelsea Wine Storage.): Always one of my favorite '89s and this bottle is singing! Beautiful aromas of sweet dark fruits, tobacco, earth and herb. On the palate, the tannins have softened and the wine is fully integrated and silky. There's perfect ripeness to the cassis fruit without it being overstated. A bit of cigar box, herb and earth with a graphite streak. The elegance of this wine with the depth and length that it shows is one of its greatest characteristics. Absolutely delicious and at peak, but not leaving that spot for awhile. A.
I just love this vintage of Lalande. I always feel like I am coming home when I drink this wine. Incredibly consistent, the 1989 always delivers exactly what I expect from a mature Lalande. Yes, the 82 is a legend and the 96 should follow along, but the 89 always brings a smile to my face. Very underrated IMHO, the 89 Lalande is just behind the top tier 89s of HB, Lynch, Montrose, Angelus, and any that I missed. Classic nose of deep earth, tobacco, rich cassis, menthol, and distinct pencil. Everything that you would expect from a great Pauillac. The palate is equally as good and is sheer mouth filling joy. Sorted tannin, velvet, very long finish - everything that you could ask for. This wine should hold for quite some time and I give my strongest endorsement to well stored bottles. Bravo! 97 Pts
Cocoa, mint, tobacco, truffle, roasted cassis, blackberry and fresh herbs create the beguiling aromatics. Silky, soft and sexy, with a fresh, cassis and olive tapenade finish. Fully mature, there is no reason to to hold your bottles any longer.
Another fantastic showing. It has the classic PLL fragrance right away with layers of dark fruit, herbs, a forestal greenness, and more savoury cedary and tobacco flavours beneath, and it's incredibly elegant and polished on the palate with the tannin very fine grained, and bright acidity giving it lift. Still feels very young with plenty of time ahead, but I'm always glad to have a chance to drink this.

(Chateau Pichon Lalande) This was lovely. Wild and bretty and herbal like great Pichon is with good concentration, ripe and sweet tannins and nice palate presence. Lovely wine. Not earthshattering but very nice.
