Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Weekend at Mantoloking; 12/28/2018-12/29/2018 (Mantoloking, NJ): Took a while for the foot funk to blow off (3+ hours in a decanter) replaced by a spicy black pepper mix. Body is a little thin but still get the lingering spice, light berry flavor and crisp acid finish. Maybe not to the level of the last bottle but a nice little bottle to pull out demonstrate some less heralded older Bordeaux to ‘newbie’ friends.

  • Great fill level, cork a little crumbly but in good shape. Decanted for 30 mins before drinking. Drank over 3 hours. Ruby red in the centre to browning rim.

Nose is of saddle leather and black pepper. Wood smoke that gained with time in the glass; some cherry hiding in the background.

The palate is beautifully clean with good acidity, red berries, lingering anise and pepper. Body kept putting on weight with the hours. So happy I took a flyer on some of these at auction.
