Tasted blind: Big rounded fruit, rich and ripe. Knowing this producer’s style, very surprised it wasn’t more of a waste to kill it now. Their generic village Volnay from ‘02 is still not ready. This is ideal for anyone liking young raw burgundy. Cries out for food to accompany.

Popped and poured. Very densly packed nose. Ripe red and black berry fruit, plum, sweet earth, a bit of floral and some darker spices. Very perfumed. Same fruit comes through on the palate. Rich texture with a good mineral backbone. Nice energy on the powerful finish.

Domaine Lafon Cellar Visit and Tasting (Meursault): Barrel tasting at winery.Hasn't been racked at all. Fragrant and spicy start with incredibly pure red fruit on nose. Flavors of red and black cherry on palate with really nice spice and oak complementary contributions. Strong minerality and acidity come through near finish. A favorite today.

Still feel that its closed and have long life ahead. Perhaps after COVID, lost a big chunk of nose.

Fantastic Volnay. Perfectly balanced, very floral and explosive aromatics. Great pairing with Veal T-Bone at the iconic Ma Cuisine.
