Perfect provenance. This bottle is part of a mixed case purchased directly from Joel Peterson through Once and Future.
This bottle sat at a slight angle on a display shelf several months in an attempt to settle down the sediment. The bottle was trasferred via a wine craddle. The cork was pulled using a Durand. It was in very good shape.
The wine was poured into the wine carafe from the craddle and decanted for approximately 45 minutes before the 1st pour and consumed over an additional 5 hours. The stemware used was a Sensory and served at 55 degrees. The wine was drank over a long period of time but it paired nicely with Hot Honey Hog Grilled Chicken.
The wine showed similarly well to a 1992 bottle i previously enjoyed.
The color was a brownish bricked ruby. There was a decently aged bouquet with dried fowers, dried cigar tobacco leaf, and earth tones with no real funk to the bouquet. The palate had some red cherry, more than expected, but was mostly secondary and tertiary notes of spice and earthiness. Like my 1992, there was good medium acidity and a good medium(-) tannins but both faded with time.
This was a fully mature wine that is still very enjoyable to drink.
This wine is in a nice spot now but doesn't have anymore to gain. I suggest enjoying this bottle sooner than later but it still has some life left if you want to cellar for another year or two.

No formal notes, served during dinner, decanted immediately prior.
Red fruited, sweet toned, plenty of cigar box, earthy tones. Not overly ripe, not green either. Resolved tannins. Enjoyable. No rush to drink, but not improving.
