Almost exactly five years since my previous bottle, this was my last. Very light red in color. Still has that beautiful classic Pinot nose of cherry and raspberry with a little earthiness in the background. I think this wine was smoother and more elegant than last time I had it. This is a wonderful food friendly PN that paired perfectly with fresh Columbia River grilled salmon.

Scott Paul for early 2000 Burgs, Eyrie, and Vista Hills: Rich, deep nose. Nice. The palate shows some good depth and is tasty, though quite mellow and soft. This is drinking really well today; quite mellow, soft, though not too much complexity. I wouldn't hesitate to pop them now.

Enclosure: screwcap. Opened and poured to accompany grilled salmon. Lighter ruby hue. Lovely nose of raspberry, bing cherry, florals, earth, and tart cherry, with hints of fennel. Sharp and crisp on the palate with lots of energizing acidity underlying delineated layers of black raspberry, bing cherry, earth, anise, and dark cola. Long finish with red fruit and minerality in abundance. A fine blade of a wine with character and nuance even at this early stage in its evolution.

Couldn't' find my detailed notes on this from the CT offline at Saul's but still just recall how much I really liked it and need track it down...Which considering the other wines in the line up that night is quite a compliment.

CT Offline (Restaurant Saul, Brooklyn, NY): Just a shade darker ruby to the Clos des Mouches. Nose of darker cherry, slight band aid, slight herbaceousness. Palate of black and red cherry with good density of fruit, balanced acidity and tannins. Really nice wine and appropriately followed the Drouhin in style with a slight New World twist. My WOTN and is on my list of wineries to visit next summer.
