  • An Embarrassment of Riches: Dinner at Chez Dalluge (Dave & Desi's Place, Somewhere in Western MN): Medium red color. Drank a glass over an hour plus in a trio with an '05 d'Angerville Volnay 1er Clos des Ducs and '09 Rousseau LSJ. A little smokey on the nose, raspberry, rich nose, cherry cobbler, earth and floral notes. The palate shows layers of very tart dark red berries and tart black cherry fruit, damp earth and sous bois, cinnamon, and minerals. This was in a good spot and maybe near peak. Very nice.

  • Big Al's btl at Chez Dalluge's last 2020 deck harrah. I believe this is generally regarded as a midline producer. Not near the top of the Gevrey Chambertin pyramid but, tonight this was the most fully realized amongst 2 other stellar Burgs including an 09 Rousseau LSJ and my D'Angerville Ducs. Both of those wines should have pancaked the Gelin but the combo of the 2010 vintage and the Beze vineyard put this at the top of the heap for me. For sure, Rousseau is an awesome producer but tonight the Beze vineyard & 2010 vintage trumped the less well situated Rousseau LSJ vineyard ler. For general immediacy, the Gelin out performed my stubborn 05 D'Angerville Ducs too, tonight. Perhaps in 3-10yrs the more fully realized superstars the '09 Rousseau LSJ and the 05 Ducs win the day? But not, tonight. That said, this ain't no 2010 Rousseau Beze on the cheap :). But it is, dam good at a fraction of the cost. Tonight the'10 Gelin Beze had Grand Cru concentration and richness if maybe missing some top shelf finesse and purity. What a tasty aromatic fun Burg! Thanks Al! Great to share a glass again.

  • Dark crimson colored with tiniest clear rim; very dark and rich fruit on nose and palate. Shocked to see the vintage when unveiled as this was surprisingly approachable for such a young Beze.

  • This is a huge, brooding hunk of a wine that needs 5+ years. Opened in the name of science in all try

  • Bouquet: Cherries, redcurrants, raspberries.

Palate: Ripe fruits. Pronounced acidity and tannins. Nice afteraste.
