Shockingly - the best showing to date. The funky acidity was more in check, so we had a pretty classy, harmonious savory/sweet mature-Syrah experience.

Mmm.! Lovely mature nose, with French stable, ammonium, licorice, smoke and game. Some glue on the nose, that fooled me. Served blind, three out of three had this as an old Barolo. Very soft & good fruit, with no tannins remaining. Still, really good wine, with a good long finish and a good match to the steak tartar tonight. Still very much alive. Looks older in the glass.

Ruby colored with a hint of brick. Floral nose. Raspberry, blackberry and violets. The palate has a strange acidic hollow core which probably distinguishes Crozes from big sister Hermitage. Will not get any better, and probably not a great QPR.

Similar notes to 7/2011 tasting. Holds up fine (on the positive side...).
