  • Still life in the bottle. Minimal browning at rim. Fruit diminished but still showing, no oxidation, decent acid and tannin balance. Held to day three in fridge, no Ar.

  • Held my last bottle of this for almost one year after the rest. The extra time seems to have helped.

PnP. This is not a typical PN. As has been noted by others, this is much deeper and darker than a typical PN. The nose is deep and intense, with notes of cherry and cassis and some earthiness. On the palate this is very fruit forward - notes of sour cherry, strawberry, with some heat, acidity and tannin arriving mid-palate. Has a long finish. Definitely a bolder and deeper PN. This doesn't have the layers of complexity and elegance of many classic PNs; I would say this swaggers more than it dances. To me this has some distinct zin-like character.

Quite enjoyable, even though it's not a typical PN and someone expecting that might be disappointed. At my $10/bottle price this is excellent QPR. I doubt it will be seen again, but if so this is an autobuy.

    Rated good: 83-85

  • Still amazed by this wine. The aftertaste is definitely pinot noir, but the initial flavors are jammy like a zin or syrah. At $10 , this was a steal for QPR.

  • Opened a bottle of this as our second bottle with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. PnP. Being as this was a family conversation and time together, i wasn't really focusing on the wine very much. So my comments are general impression. The first bottle was a Cambria pinot noir provided by my son.

This was not a typical pinot noir - darker and more brooding with some oakiness, but lacking the "high notes" generally associated often with pinot noir. I don't have any impressions of heat, acidity, or tannins, so those must have been in check. There was some earthy type funkiness lurking around that didn't seem integrated into the flavor profile very much. Got better as we were finishing the bottle an hour later - aeration might be important for this one. As an inexpensive PN ($10/bottle from wtso) it's decent, particularly if you accept that it's not a traditional PN.There's a lot of plonk PN out there at this price point, and to me this wasn't plonk. But if you're expecting a budget priced traditional PN you'll probably be disappointed. Rated at the lower end of "good" - 79-82.
