Slowly decanted in bt, garnet with rim in brick red. Nose of leather, cassis and autumn leaves. Vibrant in mouth offering good structure and very fine balance of acidity, tannin resolving, black fruits, long lasting aroma, many 80s wines are in their prime drinking windows, this too but shall hold.
Time to Taste 2000 Bordeaux (R&D's): Double decanted quickly off its sediment and rebottled before being poured with dinner three hours later. Terrific roasted herb, red fruit and tobacco aromas. Flavors of red fruit and tobacco. Cedar, leather and forest floor notes emerge with a little more air. Nicely balanced and ready to go but will hold for a while.
Good fill level. Very nice color, with a deep ruby and some lightening at the edges. Decanted for a total of 2 hours, but this was not necessary. This was strong right out of the gate. Blackcurrant, cedar, leather, lavender, pencil, and Asian spices. Full-bodied and solid on the palate from start to finish. Fine integrated tannins, no bitterness. Moderate acidity. Lengthy finish. This was a beautiful bottle of wine that was just singing tonight. It is so obviously in its drinking window, because I just can't imagine better balance than it already has.
