This wine was still tannic, delicious and somewhat smokey. Drank very nicely for a 61 yer old wine. What a pleasure to be able to partake in such an iconic bottle!

My impression is very similar to JOHNNYG's. This bottle was *pristine." I chalked it up to being from Bern's, which I'm sure has had it since release. But the wine itself, while proper and certainly not over the hill, left the impression of being generic Bordeaux. It got lost among a series of far superior bottles.

A Somewhat Egotistical Evening of Well-Aged Wines (Los Olivos, CA): The bottle was in pristine shape, with a near-perfect fill, to the point where I could not wonder whether it was genuine, not that this would be the producer whose 1961 a forger would likely target. Despite all appearances of authenticity with the cork, I remain unsettled and am not scoring it. The wine was not tired, nor was there evident sediment. I found it a bit flabby, with plum and a touch of fig, rather straightforward.

Not the best bottle with a mid to high shoulder fill and a completely soaked cork. Was hence expecting a long dead wine but then a surprisingly dark garnet in the glass with just a touch browning towards the rim. Subtle souls bois, wood spices, dry black plums, a touch of medicinal notes. Still present tannins, even a bit rustic upon opening but smoothens our beautifully with a bit air. Some slightly oxidized notes creeping in as well but otherwise a great pleasure to drink. 88 upon opening but then increasing towards 92 if one can look past the slightly oxidized notes. Better bottles should show even stronger

An unctuous, almost cloying chocolate sense. Also cherry. In great shape.
