Previously had this wine, oxidized, over the hill, bought at the same time as this bottle, but this bottle was nothing short of spectacular, dark ruby, garnet edge, still in a fruit predominant stage at 43 years old, dark currants, currants, hints of cedar and pencil lead, long finish, drank blind, the whole group agreed, just a wow!

Interesting that with all the house moves over the years since it was originally bought in California that it was still drinkable. That seems to point toward good wine making. It was had with friends over homemade lasagna verde.

Still drinking albeit certainly fully mature at this point. There are defintely still some nice dried fruit notes left although the wine certainly is showing its mature, savory character. It does give the impression of being fairly light of body but shows well for 30 years of age.
Drink now!

With steak a few hours later a bit of a french nose, dusty, leather, aged dried fruit, cheese?? End of bottle, 2 hours, opening up. Sour fruit attack is gone, acids and tannims still there, wow. Long lingering finish of aged jammy wine. Yummy in the end. Some structure emerges. Better. 92ish.

Definitely over the hill. Little fruit and a bit sour when first opened. Smoothed out after 15 minutes or so. Still drinkable.

20th Anniversary - Huntington Beach, California; 6/30/2008-7/10/2008 (Huntington Beach - Paradise House aka Joe's Pad): Just too tough to score. Started out with a crumbled cork. Light, brickish in color, no nose. Out of bottle without food ... a sour cherry fruit, a bit past it's prime solid cab from the 80's. An interesting throwback.
