  • From a weaker vintage this is a very nice bottle of wine. The cork came out perfectly clean. The color is quite deep with still enough brightness. The sediment was light. The bouquet is leather and tobacco with a touch of cedar and earth. On the palate the wine is moderately tannic. The flavor is consistent with the bouquet. Then wine is a bit austere but not dried out. It is beginning at the front half of maturity. No hurry but with more time it will be lighter but perhaps a bit more complex. It really depends on whether you like that stage of a wine to wait longer. Great performance from the 1993 vintage.

  • This wine at 21 years of age opened nicely with no issue with the cork which was still in good shape. The wine had only a light sediment. The color and body of the wine is medium. The color is garnet with hardly any tile-color notes. The bouquet was cedar, wet leaves, a touch of saddle and tobacco. The wine was initially more closed but in a half hour it evolved for the better with a more intense perfume and more weight and body on the palate. The taste profile is classic claret with still nice evolved fruit and much complexity. This is not a blockbuster or huge wine but very satisfying. It is probably at peak maturity but will hold for easily five years in c cold cellar. Parker gave this wine a 85 in 1997 and suggested drinking it much earlier ten years ago. Ten years later in a cold cellar, I believe this wine is better now. It is just very enjoyable and with great firmness and not a bit tired.
