  Lots of fruit - berry, plum, cherry. Also pepper, chocolate, forest floor, rose. This tastes much younger than an 09. I think it will benefit from more aging to smooth and round out some more. But this was still quite nice now.

  Delicious, floral, feminine expression of syrah. Blueberry and blackcurrant flavors, accompanied by fine, well-integrated tannins. Reminds me of the 2011 Proper Stone's Throw. Drinking well now but can hang on for a few years. Decidedly un-Parkerized.
  
  92 points now; will gain a point or two with a couple of additional years of cellaring.

  More vegetal than my last bottle, and seemed to open much more slowly. I am still enticed by that deep purple color. The grenache seemed much more prominent than I had recalled, though the wine settled down on day two.

  My first bottle of this their debut vintage, though the winemaker, Duncan Meyers, is hardly a newbie. Deep purple in color, almost a Welch's grape juice lookalike. Wafts of berries and toasted vanilla on the nose, which became increasingly expressive through the afternoon. The palate added notes of pepper, fennel and olive to the spice and berry base, with the grenache playing a starring role. There's a nice acidity that makes this an easy choice to accompany food. The finish extends nicely. I will hold off on my other bottles to let the tannins continue to soften, but am very impressed.
