Astonishing. Upon readi the reviews I was urged to open my last bottle of 6. Cork holding up very well and would last another ten years. Decanted one hour. Burnished mahogany colour. Nose overflowing black cherry conserve, beeswax with rich honey, hints of gardenia. High alcohol evident in mouth, sears slightly. Palate of sweet cherries and raspberries, slight ox blood, leather, thyme, powdery tannins like fine dust on a hot forest road. Very long sweet finish, mouth left coated with sweet soft tannins. Wine is resplendent.

Zoom blind tasting. Nose of dark fruit with some dried fruit and garrigue. On the palate despite its alcohol it felt the lightest in this CDP/Amarone flight, tannins a touch rustic though. Unfortunately it maderized quickly in the glass. Late maturity, drink up.

Sure, there is noticeable alcohol in this, but apart from that I don't see what the heck everyone's problem is with it. Very tasty juice that oozes character. In spite of the alcohol, we drank it all up without ill effect. Lovely wine, just not for everyone.

Getting somewhat bricky colour. Nose is pretty awful and palate worse, in fact we all found it undrinkable. 16% is way too much. Very odd as before it we drank the Beaucastel 2004 which was 14% and quite good. the Chapoutier is totally out of balance and we'll use it to make a sauce. What a waste. Biodynamic selection parcellaire? what went wrong..??

This bottle was a little bit tired, with significant bricking and a pruney aspect. Still drinking ok, but definitely time to drink up.
